Written Testimonials:
When I first started at Freedom at the beginning of October 2007 I was in major pain in my back and hips. My chest hurt and I was emotionally in a bad place because I had not taken care of my husband who has cancer and the Day Care that is our means of support because it was so hard for me to move. I have had back pain for over ten years. I went to a Chiropractor about six years ago after going for 18 months first twice a week then once a week(go to the office to get your adjustment then go home) I was still having a lot of pain. One day he had some filling in for him, he put me into a position and pushed I almost passed out from pain and had trouble getting off of the table, I refused to go until my regular Dr got back. The regular Dr sent me to physical therapy for four months for some relief. I vowed never to go back to a Chiropractor. Through the years I have found some relief from exercise, yoga, and massage with essential oils. In April 2006 I went to an internist because I was worried about the pain, I was afraid it was arthritis because of the shape of my hands, from an x-ray she diagnosed me with spondlathcsis(sp) and degenerative disc disease, prescribed anti-inflammatory such as Advil, and sent me for more physical therapy, I learned about core muscles and how they could help me move. I went for 10 sessions but my insurance wouldn't pay for it and I ran out of money and I could do exercises at home.
I first learned of Freedom Chiropractic at a Day Care meeting in September 18th, 2007. I almost didn't go to the meeting because my back hurt so bad I could hardly put one foot in front of the other. I decided to go because I needed the hours and I thought maybe the speaker would take my mind off of the pain. The speaker that night was Dr. Kristen, she was speaking about how we could live better, the main thing i felt from her was it was all body, mind, and spirit and how we used our time to bring it all together. When she was finished she shared with us that she is a chiropractor (i thought she was a motivational speaker) and invited us to her office for an evaluation. I had a very bad experience with a chiropractor so I normally would have just left the meeting motivated by what she said, but that body, mind, and spirit thing is something I truly believe in.
At Freedom I learned that with chiropractic we can increase the blood flow, open up the nerve passages, and therefore give all of our organs the means to be more healthy and free of disease. The docs and staff are committed and we are expected to make the same commitment which isn't hard because of the encouragement we get. We get an adjustment, do our exercises and get classes on many subjects handouts are interesting.
I am the President of the Colorado Springs Muzzle Loaders. I enjoy shooting Muzzled Loading Rifles as part of what we do we walk a lot on uneven ground (very painful) we need to be able to shoulder a rifle (after about 15 shots it would become impossible to lift my rifle one more time). I was invited to the Master Tournament that took place in October but was not able to attend because of debilitating pain. Since starting chiropractic I can again shoulder my rifle and can walk at the shooting range.
It is now January 13, 2008 I have been pretty much symptom free for the last 3 weeks, I can breath better, my chest doesn't hurt, walking is no longer a chore (it had become increasingly hard to even do shopping for my Day Care). I shoveled snow without hurting myself, I can clean my house and walk my dog without hurting. I have to be care to not overdo because it has been a long time since I have been able to do even normal activities. My quality of life has gotten a lot better. Another good thing that has happened besides being able to move is that I have dentures and in working on the arch in my neck my jaw has become better aligned and my dentures fit better.

Our wonderful, delightful Millie:
As I approach my 81st birthday, I am so glad to report that I am doing better now than I was a year ago when I first came to Dr. Kristen. At that time I couldn't stand up straight at all-but now I can for short periods of time-and when my posture begins to digress, it is not as bad as it used to be. Also other bodily functions such as my kidneys, bowels, carpal tunnel, and even though I've had thrombo phlebitis five times, my legs no longer ache and give me the problems they used to. I haven't had a cold, flu or any sinus infection all year long. My social calendar is full with fun activities, i.e., two red-hat clubs, fine arts plays each season, Christian Women's Club Luncheons. I'm ready to go out-just ask me. Don't invite me if you don't want me to go. Life is wonderful! Everybody tells me how great I look! :)
